Ambassador Saeed attends the opening of the 10th European Film Festival in Khartoum

Khartoum, (Private Office): His Excellency Ambassador Saeed ZAKI attends the opening ceremony of the 10th European Film Festival, which was held at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, Assistant President of the Republic of Sudan, Ambassadors of the European Union and representatives of diplomatic missions to Sudan, in addition to a number of officials and guests from various institutions. His Highness was accompanied by Mr. Mamoun Hussein, Deputy Representative of the International Youth Federation in Sudan, and Ms. Zahra Ali from his office.

The opening ceremony included speeches by the Honorable Assistant to the President, and a speech by the European Union Ambassador Jean Michel Dumond, in addition to a musical concert. The 10-day festival will feature a diverse selection of European films selected from Germany, Italy, Britain, Spain, France, Sweden, Austria, Romania, Portugal, Norway, the Netherlands, and Britain.

"It is a great honor to attend this important event, which is important not only in the contexts of cultural exchange that is created through the screening of films but also through the specialized workshops organized by the festival for young Sudanese filmmakers, which is a true addition to support a unique generation of Sudanese filmmakers." said Ambassador Saeed ZAKI.

This year, the festival celebrates the Italian artist Sophia Lorraine, one of the most prominent stars of European and international cinema in modern times, the recipient of the title of Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, in addition to the Academy Award in 1991 and the Golden Globe Award in 1995.

The festival, which is being held for the tenth year in Sudan, aims at promoting the European cultural diversity in Sudan within the cultural exchanges between countries and peoples. It also establishes cooperation between Sudan and European countries to promote a culture of mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence, and tolerance.
